Characters are listed in alphabetical order by their first names or last names if only their last names are given in the story. The character list is divided into three sections: the Rangers, the Gorma, and miscellaneous. 

THE RANGERS

Adam Park:Lion Ranger. Heaven Illusion Star, Green. 16-years-old, from Angel Grove East. Born in 1985. He worked in a pet store. Learned the Kukishin style from Master Mao, the owner of a plant store who lived near his home. Was briefly enrolled in the Ikkazuchi Way martial arts school. He was shy and withdrawn. His father, police detective Trevor Park, gave him a hard time for reading fantasy novels and daydreaming in school. As a Ranger, Adam controlled the Star Lion.

Billy Cranston:Kirin Ranger. Heaven Time Star, Yellow. 16-years-old, from Angel Grove Central. Born in 1985. Billy's mother died of cancer when he was young, and he was raised by his father. Billy was trained in the Jinenkan art by Master Kosugi, a janitor at his school. Billy was a genius.

In 2001, Billy was chosen to become the Blue Tricera Ranger. After the defeat of Bandora, the Power Rangers' Power Coins and Dinozords returned to the One Power, leaving the Rangers powerless.

In 2002, Billy was chosen to become the Yellow Ranger. As a Ranger, Billy controlled the Star Kirin.

Kimberly Hart: Phoenix Ranger. Heaven Wind Star, Pink. 16-years-old, from Angel Grove South. Born in 1985. Kimberly's parents divorced when she was young, and she lived with her mother. Her mother often stayed out late and was rarely home. She never saw her father after the divorce. She learned the Shiranui style from her Uncle Gohun. Kimberly was involved with gymnastics at school. 

In 2001, she was chosen to become the Pink Ptera Ranger. After the defeat of Bandora, the Power Rangers' Power Coins and Dinozords returned to the One Power, leaving the Rangers powerless.

In 2002, she was chosen to become the Pink Phoenix Ranger. As a Ranger, Kimberly controlled the Star Phoenix.

Kou:Kiba Ranger. Heaven Roaring Star, White. 10-years-old, from Angel Grove's Chinatown. Born in 1991. Kou's mother left him when he was very young, and he was raised by a husband and wife who owned and operated a grocery store. He was chosen to become Kiba Ranger by the enchanted tiger saber, Byakkoshinken. As a Ranger, Kou controlled the White Tigerzord.

Rocky DeSantos:Tenma Ranger. Heaven Gravity Star, Blue. 16-years-old, from Angel Grove West. Born in 1985. Rocky aspired to become a professional fighter. He studied the Koppouken style at a small dojo run by Master Higashi, a former member of the Hayate Way. As a Ranger, Rocky controlled the Star Tenma.

 

Tommy Oliver:Dragon Ranger. Heaven Fire Star, Red. 16-years-old, from Angel Grove North. Born in 1985. Attended Angel Grove North Community High School. Tommy was adopted at the age of four (1989) after his parents died. His adopted parents had two children of their own, Teddy and Chelsea. Tommy and Chelsea shared the same birthday. Tommy studied the Hakkyokuseiken style under the leadership of Master Mugensai at the Hayate Way school in Little Tokyo.

In 2001, Tommy's girlfriend Shannon was critically injured in Bandora's first attack, and Tommy thought she was dead. Bandora placed a spell on Tommy and turned him into the Green Dragon Ranger, leader of her Dark Warlords. Few months later, Tommy's spell was broken, and he joined the Power Rangers. He learned that Kyra, one of Bandora's villains, was actually Shannon. She was taken from Earth and "reprogrammed" as Kyra by Bandora. Kyra/Shannon died at the hands of Goldar. Bandora summoned DaiSatan back to Earth. Tommy lost his powers but was able to access his Kiryoku for the first time to kill DaiSatan. He proceeded to kill Bandora.

In 2002, Tommy was chosen as the Red Dragon Ranger. As a Ranger, Tommy controlled the Red Dragon, Ryuseiou.

THE GORMA

Akomaru:Shadam's 10-year-old son. Shadam wanted nothing to do with the boy, so he was raised by Tenpo Shogun and nursed by the Sankanjo. He hated his father. Served on the Senate level of the Gorma but wanted to replace his father as military leader. (Introduced in Chapter 10)

Gara, Lieutenant Colonel:A former member of the Dai Tribe who joined the Gorma when she was about ten. A member of the Gorma Triumvirate, the three military leaders of the empire. (Introduced in Chapter 01)

Gorma Emperor XV:Matoi protested the Dai Tribe's efforts to disperse the Gorma Tribe about 6,000 years ago. The emperor at the time seemed willing to let the Gorma disband. Matoi sought power to keep that from happening. He was in possession of a book that had belonged to an ancient cult called the Ka'zuul, which worshipped an evil spirit known as DaiSatan. In the early age of the Daos civilization, a member of the Shura named Meduya had stumbled upon the book and used its power to become a warlock that summoned minor demons and spirits to his bidding. The Gorma had slain Meduya and taken the book, which was deemed too dangerous to exist. The Gorma tried to destroy the book, but it withstood even fire. The Dai feared that someone would stumble upon the book if it was simply cast away, so they entrusted its care to the Gorma Tribe to serve as its guardian and ensure its pages were never opened again. Matoi's family was picked to guard the book, and it was passed along his bloodline from generation to generation. Matoi used the book to reach out for DaiSatan, but since the evil spirit had already been banished by Zordon, his mind was drawn to a great lake of fire and a massive beast that lived within its flames. The Great Beast of Hell known as the Mogralord. Matoi pleaded with the Mogralord for strength, and the Great Beast of Hell answered the call through these words: "I will make the Gorma my eyes on the mortal plane. And I will teach you new ways to strengthen this Life Force that courses through your veins. This Kiryoku. Through the suffering and despair of others, the flow of Life Force within you will churn into Rinki, power that is born from a heart of hatred and anger. In return, you will spread carnage across the mortal plane, and the slain souls of the damned will be mine to toy with." Matoi used this new power to overthrow the emperor, take control of the Gorma, and start the war against the Dai Tribe. (Introduced in Chapter 03)

Kyonshi:Gorma soldiers not strong enough to turn themselves into monsters often died while trying, but their bodies were reanimated by the Gorma and covered with skin-tight armor and masks to hide their appearance. Each undead soldier had an unseen third eye beneath its mask. The Kyonshi were the basis of Chinese vampires of legend. (Introduced in Chapter 01)

Shadam, Lieutenant Colonel:Leader of the Gorma Triumvirate, the three military leaders of the empire. Father of Akomaru. (Introduced in Chapter 01)

Tenpo Shogun: Leader of the Senate level of the Gorma Empire. Raised and instructed Akomaru. (Introduced in Chapter 10)

Zydos, Major: A member of the Gorma Triumvirate, the three military leaders of the empire. The powerhouse of the trio. (Introduced in Chapter 01)

MISCELLANEOUS

Ayuma: A friend of Sensei Kaku who could channel the One Power to heal. Ayuma lived in Angel Grove's Chinatown. He was a practicing physician gifted in traditional surgery as well as mystical healing. He was roughly 40 years old. (Introduced in Chapter 20)

Bandora:Bandora was a Ryujinn, an ancient race that lived among the dinosaurs about 1.7-million years ago. Her son Kai was killed by a dinosaur after disturbing its nest. Bandora swore vengeance and sold her soul to the evil spirit DaiSatan, who transformed her into a powerful witch. She summoned the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs. She was defeated by Zordon and his Rangers after a lengthy battle and banished from the mortal plane. As a witch, Bandora used shadow energy to manipulate creatures she summoned from a demonic deck of cards, given to her by DaiSatan. She was released from her imprisonment in 2001 and renewed her attack on Earth. She manipulated Tommy Oliver and turned him into the Green Dragon Ranger, but he broke free from her control. She summoned DaiSatan to Earth, but he was killed by Tommy, and during that final battle, Tommy killed her as well. (First mentioned in Chapter 01 of Book One. Introduced in Chapter 02 of Book One. Killed by Tommy in the final chapter of Book One). 

Baron Muscle:A Gorma monster who defeated the original Dairanger team about 6,000 years ago, during the end of the original war between the Gorma and Dai. He channeled earth energy. His attack was the "Power Quaker." (Introduced in Chapter 05)

Chelsea Oliver:Chelsea was Tommy's sister by adoption. They were the same age and had the same birthday.

Daijinnryu: A giant black dragon with claws the size of Megazords. A creature born from the universe. Sought out disturbances caused by the battle between good and evil and ended those disturbances by wiping out both sides. His origins were unknown. (Introduced in Chapter 22)

DaiSatan:DaiSatan was a powerful demonic spirit that traveled to Earth around 1.7-million years ago. He was summoned to Earth by Akessell, a member of the ancient Ryujinn that lived alongside the dinosaurs. DaiSatan killed Akessell and recruited Bandora in his efforts to take over the Earth. He gave her a deck of demonic cards and summoned the warrior Goldar and Scorpina to aid her. Zordon followed DaiSatan to Earth and banished him from the mortal plane. He was summoned back to Earth by Bandora in 2001. He was killed by Tommy. (First mentioned in Book One Chapter 03. Introduced in Book One Chapter 26. Killed by Tommy in the final chapter of Book One). 

Franklin Park:Adam Park's 10-year-old younger brother and only sibling. (Introduced in Chapter 06)

Gohun:A friend of Kimberly's family who she considered an uncle. Gohun was a member of the Dai Tribe during the original battle against the Gorma 6,000 years ago. He was a teacher to Master Kaku at the time. He taught Kimberly the Shiranui style. His power granted him a long life span. (Introduced in Chapter 08).

Higashi, Master:A former member of the Hayate Way in Angel Grove's Little Japan. Opened his own martial arts school in Angel Grove West. Taught Rocky the Koppouken style. (Introduced in Chapter 02)

Jason Scott:Born in 1985. 16 years old. In 2001, He was chosen to become the Red Tyranno Ranger to fight against the witch Bandora. Jason's twin sister Janet was killed by members of the Purple Dragon Gang shortly before he became the Red Tyranno Ranger. He studied martial arts under Master Ohm at a dojo in Little Tokyo. After the defeat of Bandora, the Power Rangers' Power Coins and Dinozords returned to the One Power, leaving the Rangers powerless. In 2002, Jason and his friends Zack Taylor and Trini Kwan left for Japan to study abroad for a year.

Jinn Matoba: An assassin who targeted martial arts masters. A master of Kenpo. His hand was cut off by his sensei. He replaced the limb with a metallic, artificial hand. He had a twisted code of honor. (Introduced in Chapter 15)

Justin Stewart:Born in 1991. 10 years old, from Angel Grove West. Justin's mother died during child birth, and his father left him at the Angel's Haven Children's Shelter while moving from military base to military base. Justin's father quickly remarried a woman, who gave birth to Justin's younger half-sister Erika. Erika's mother and Justin's father died in a car crash shortly after Erika was born. Justin met Rocky through a martial arts school in the city, and Rocky took Justin under his wing. (Introduced in Chapter 02)

Kaku, Master:Escaped with the Red Dragon Ryuseiou after the fallout of the Gorma rebellion 6,000 years ago. While meditating on the Astral Plane, he encountered Zordon, who helped him craft a set of Ranger powers in case the Gorma returned. Kaku's power granted him a long life span. (Introduced in Chapter 01)

Kameo:One of the first customers of Billy Cranston's INET company. Lived in Angel Grove's Chinatown. (Introduced in Chapter 12)

Kelly:A young girl whose brother was targeted by the Gorma monster Kagi Dokeshi, the Key Jester. A frequent customer at the pet store where Adam Park worked. (Introduced in Chapter 03)

Kujaku: A warrior of the Dai Tribe. Pledged her life to the Peacock Buddha to become his avatar and gain his power. Was imprisoned by the Gorma monster Kagami Keshoshi, Master Mirror, 6,000 years ago. (Introduced in Chapter 06)

Lyn Holtkamp:A television news reporter assigned the "Ranger beat."She started reporting on the Rangers in 2001 and continued to cover the new team and their battle against the Gorma. (Introduced in Chapter 06. Featured in Chapter 09)

Mahamayuri Vidyaraja:Known as the Peacock Buddha during the peak of the Daos Civilization 8,000 years ago. His animal spirit was the peacock. He was worshiped as a deity after his death. The warrior Kujaku was able to channel the power of his spirit 6,000 years ago. (First mentioned in Chapter 06)

Mao, Master:Former member of the Ikkazuchi Way in Japan. Fled the school. Owned a plant store near Adam Park's home in Angel Grove East. Taught Adam the Kukishin style. (First mentioned in Chapter 03)

Maria: Gohun's fiancé. In her early 20s. Lived in Angel Grove's Chinatown. Gohun chose her to watch over Byakkoshinken. He didn't think anyone would ever suspect her, a normal, mortal woman, of possessing the enchanted saber. (Introduced in Chapter 08)

Melissa: A girl who briefly dated Rocky DeSantos, until he kept canceling on her and standing her up because of his Ranger duties. (Introduced in Chapter 07)

Mitch: Younger cousin of Rocky DeSantos. Mitch thought Rocky was annoying and irresponsible. (Introduced in Chapter 19)

Mogralord:Known as the Great Beast of Hell. Also called La Moghra. The Mogralord was a powerful demon beast that had never set foot in the mortal realm. Many circles of the occult across the galaxy revered him, or feared him, as the most powerful demon in the pits of Hell. About 6,000 years ago, a Gorma named Matoi reached out to find DaiSatan, but since the evil spirit had already been banished by Zordon, his mind was drawn to the Mogralord. Matoi pleaded with the Mogralord for strength, and the Great Beast of Hell answered the call through these words: "I will make the Gorma my eyes on the mortal plane. Monica Gray:A former best friend of Kimberly Hart, until Kimberly joined the popular crowd at school. Monica and Kimberly were on the gymnastics team together. Monica was mostly shy and not social. She had several siblings, including a 10-year-old sister named Rachel. (Introduced in Chapter 04)

Mugensai, Master:Lead sensei of the Hayate Way. First to instruct Tommy Oliver the Hakkyokuseiken style. (First mentioned in Book One).

Nic: One of Kimberly Hart's classmates. A popular student at school. (Introduced in Chapter 04)

Nern, Coach: Coach Nern was Kimberly's gymnastics coach at Angel Grove South Community High School. She was very demanding of Kimberly. (First mentioned in Book One. Introduced in Chapter 04)

Parker, Mrs.:The mother of Shannon Parker, Tommy's former girlfriend who was abducted by Bandora's forces in 2001, brainwashed into turning evil, and killed by Goldar. (Introduced in Chapter 02)

Sam: A young boy who was targeted by the Gorma monster Kagi Dokeshi, the Key Jester. His soul was stolen by the creature, but later returned to his body. (Introduced in Chapter 03)

Shannon Parker:Tommy's girlfriend. She was a brilliant musician on the piano. The piano had been her escape. Shannon's father had been an abusive drunk. Her mother stood by and did nothing, pretending that all was right with the world. Pretending that her husband didn't cheat on her weekly or make her daughter cry. Shannon was critically injured in Bandora's first attack on Angel Grove in 2001, and Bandora kidnapped her and warped her mind with a mystical medallion that turned her into the villain Kyra. She was killed by Goldar. (Introduced in Book One Prologue. Killed by Goldar in Book One Chapter 23)

Simon Kaden: Born in 1991. Simon lived with a foster family in Angel Grove North. His foster father was a minister who took in many children in need of a home. The 10-year-old lived with the same foster family as 17-year-old Maya Koji, who he considered an older sister. Simon and Maya were friends to the original Power Rangers. In 2001, Tommy Oliver started instructing Simon in martial arts. (Introduced in Book Chapter 01)

Takimura:Fourteenth emperor of the Gorma Tribe. About 6,000 years ago, he seemed willing to let the Gorma disband at the order of the Dai Tribe. A Gorma named Matoi protested the Dai Tribe's order, killed Takimaru, and took command of the Gorma Tribe as the Gorma's 15th Emperor. (Introduced in Chapter 03)

Tatsume:Former lover of Jinn Matoba. Their relationship ended when Jinn went on a personal quest to kill martial arts masters who harshly treated their students. (Introduced in Chapter 15)

Teddy Oliver: Born in 1991. Teddy, 10-years-old, was Tommy's younger brother by adoption. (Introduced in Book One)

Tengensei Daigo:Original Lion Ranger of the Heaven Illusion Star. Betrayed by Tenkasei Ryou. (Introduced in Chapter 05)

Tenjisei Kazu:Original Kirin Ranger of the Heaven Time Star. Betrayed by Tenkasei Ryou. (Introduced in Chapter 05)

Tenjusei Shoji: Original Tenma Ranger of the Heaven Gravity Star. Betrayed by Tenkasei Ryou. (Introduced in Chapter 05)

Tenkasei Ryou: Original Dragon Ranger of the Heaven Fire Star. About 6,000 years ago, he was lured to the Gorma by promises of power, and he betrayed his team. His powers granted him a long life span. About twenty years ago, he fell in love with a woman, and shortly afterward, they had their first child, who would become Tommy Oliver. Ryou joined the Gorma after his wife was killed when Tommy was 4-years-old. Master Kaku saw to it that Tommy was adopted by a good family. Tommy was led to believe his father had died. (Introduced in Chapter 05)

Tenpusei Rio:Original Phoenix Ranger of the Heaven Wind Star. Betrayed by Tenkasei Ryou. (Introduced in Chapter 05)

Trevor Park:Father of Adam and Franklin Park. A police detective with the Angel Grove Third Precinct. Is highly critical of his sons, especially Adam. (Introduced in Chapter 03)

Trini Kwan: Born in 1985. 16 years old. Trini's father mysteriously disappeared when she was four (1989). He was eventually pronounced dead. Trini was adopted by a family in Angel Grove. Her new father did not approve of her martial arts training. She was trained by her adopted grandfather, Master Tao. In 2001, she was chosen as the Yellow Tiger Ranger to fight against the witch Bandora. After the defeat of Bandora, the Power Rangers' Power Coins and Dinozords returned to the One Power, leaving the Rangers powerless. In 2002, she joined her friends Jason Scott and Zack Taylor in studying abroad in Japan for a year.

Zack Taylor:Born in 1985. 16 years old. Zack and his friends often partied with drugs and alcohol, until 2001, when he was chosen to become the Black Mammoth Ranger to fight against Bandora. He briefly dated Kimberly Hart, but she broke up with him after discovering his drug problem. After the defeat of Bandora, the Power Rangers' Power Coins and Dinozords returned to the One Power, leaving the Rangers powerless. In 2002, he joined his friends Jason Scott and Trini Kwan in studying abroad in Japan for a year.

Zordon: Zordon served as a soldier in Lord Zedd's empire more than 1.7-million years ago. He was young and did not realize the empire was evil and oppressive. Zordon broke away from the empire, became a Ranger, and started a resistance movement against Lord Zedd. Zordon left his homeworld of Eltar and fought evil across the galaxy. He followed the evil spirit DaiSatan to Earth. Zordon tapped into the One Power to create mighty beasts to fight against DaiSatan and his witch Bandora. The Ryujinn, an ancient race that lived alongside the dinosaurs, named these beasts "zords" after Zordon. Zordon created a set of Power Coins that allowed six Ryujinn to harness the power of the Dinozords and become Rangers. With the Rangers' help, Zordon banished DaiSatan from the mortal plane. But Bandora placed a curse on Zordon that separated his consciousness from his body. Zordon used the One Power to communicate with the Ryujinn and enlist their help in building a Command Chamber. Zordon used the Command Chamber to appear as a holographic projection. He used a mix of Eltarian technology and magick to create the android Alpha-5 as an assistant in the Command Chamber. In the final battle against Bandora, Zordon sealed her within a pocket dimension beneath the surface of Earth's moon.

About 6,000 years ago, Zordon encountered Master Kaku on the Astral Plane and helped him develop the Dairanger powers.

In 2001, the Rangers found Zordon after Bandora was released. He guided them in their war against Bandora, and after her defeat, Zordon and Alpha-5 returned to Eltar.
